NARM Therapy
Neuro Affective Relational Model for Complex Trauma
I am trained in a therapeutic approach called NARM, or NeuroAffective Relational Model. NARM is specifically designed for working with complex trauma; an umbrella term for:
Attachment trauma (i.e chronic caregiver misattunement)
Developmental trauma (any event that occurs in early childhood that impacts development or threatens the developing Self)
Relational trauma (i.e various abuses, neglect, abandonment that happens in relationship to other humans)
Intergenerational trauma (the transmission of the impact from traumatic events onto younger generations).
NARM supports trauma healing and relational health by processing the trauma stored in the body and who we take ourselves to be as a result of what happened. Together we will explore what you most want for yourself right now, and what is getting in the way. And what gets in the way is often connected to our past relationships and experiences; now showing up as chronic depression and anxiety, people - pleasing, gnawing resentment, avoidance of getting close to others, disconnecting from what we need and want, and other painful patterns.
We begin to heal these patterns when we’re able to psycho-biologically complete what didn’t get to happen due to the circumstances of our environment. This frees up the space and energy to get to choose the life we actually want.
NARM is:
Both Somatic Based & Depth Oriented
Grounded in the Here & Now
Client Driven, Therapist Supported
Focused on the Ways We Adapted to Trauma & How This Shows Up Today
Focused on Shifting Underlying Patterns That Drive the Symptoms
Rooted In Curiosity & Humility
Deeply Honoring the Wisdom and Resourcefulness of our Humanity
A Path Towards Post Traumatic Growth
